Here we go...

So its December 31st, New Year’s Eve, and I figure this is just as good a day as any to start a blog. Wrapping up 2012, it's been a rough year for me personally, as well as for the country… but we got through it, because, well, what else would we do? Through it though, I’ve gained some new perspective on life, I’ve faced some demons, and I’ve become more spiritually enlightened. All in all, I feel like I’ve finally found my voice.

And so I also started this blog because I want to chronicle my upcoming experience, studying for my 200-hour yoga certification over 30 days in Nosara, Costa Rica. I know in my heart that it is going to be one of the greatest, transformational, life-affirming, and educational experiences of my life. And through this digital medium I hope to inspire, motivate, teach, support, guide, and learn, with and for others, as we are all on this beautiful journey together. I believe social media is one of the most powerful tools we have to connecting the world, and sharing knowledge, positivity, and love.

I’ve got to run out now before the ball drops… going to Unicorn Meat’s party at some abandoned warehouse in Bed-Stuy, where there will be cool art installments depicting countries around the world, oh and Moby is headlining (yea, Moby!)

Which reminds me, I’ll end this first post with some quite appropriate lyrics…

Growing in numbers, Growing in speed
Can’t fight the future, Can’t fight what I see

People they come together, People they fall apart
No one can stop us now, ‘Cause we are all made of stars

Efforts of lovers, Left in my mind
I sing in the reaches, We’ll see what we find

People they come together, People they fall apart
No one can stop us now, ‘Cause we are all made of stars

People they come together, People they fall apart
No one can stop us now, ‘Cause we are all made of stars

Slow slow slow, come come, Someone come come come
Even love is goin’ ’round, You can’t ignore what is goin’ ’round

Slowly rebuilding, I feel it in me
Growing in numbers, Growing in peace

People they come together, People they fall apart
No one can stop us now, ‘Cause we are all made of stars

P.S.

I decided to call my blog Wonder Yogi, firstly because the word Wonder stirs up something in me, as I feel I’ve always lived life in a state of wonder and searching for more of it. Secondly, I’ve dabbled in yoga on and off since I was 16 years old (its now 10 years later), but am now very soon to be taking on a new role as a yoga educator. And lastly, Wonder Yogi sounds like Wonder Woman, and (since I consider myself pretty bad-ass) well, I just like the ring of that.
